Bioelements Sleepwear Review: Cult Favorite for Good Reason?
December 20, 2016

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to test Bioelements Sleepwear for myself to see if it lives up to its fame. I have had trouble with retinol products in the past, and so I tried this with a mix of hope and trepidation.

The first thing I noticed about the product was a yummy ingredient list. Standout ingredients in Bioelements Sleepwear include:
  • Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil–moisturizes and softens skin, reduces inflammation, balances oil production
  • Glycerin–moisturizes, helps skin retain water
  •  Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)–healing, provides vitamins A and E to skin
  • Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oil–excellent for the skin barrier
  • Dimethicone–emollient to prevent dry skin
  • Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Oil–uniquely balanced with the ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids that skin needs, hydrating
  • Palmitoyl Oligopeptide-skin beneficial peptide
  • Calcium PCA--strengthens skin’s protective barrier
  • Retinol--potentially transformative anti-aging ingredient
  • Tocopherol–vitamin E, fats soluble antioxidant essential for healthy skin
  • Squalane–hydrating, creates a barrier between skin and the environment
The idea behind Bioelement Sleepwear is that the special combination of calcium, time-released retinol, cranberry seed oil, and peptides work throughout the night to boost collagen and elastin, provide free radical protection, improve hydration and reinforce skin’s protective outer layer. You can see from the list of ingredients that Bioelements puts a premium on deep
hydration and reinforcing the skin barrier, both of which tend to become increasingly important as skin ages, and they also include heavy hitters in terms of retinol and peptides.
Because of a messy history with retinol (e.g., lots of irritation, little apparent benefit due to my skin’s reactivity), I am always a little wary of products that contain it, and I had never found any product with retinol in it able to truly hydrate my skin.  I expected to wake up to a red face the morning after I first applied Sleepwear, but Sleepwear left my skin hydrated,
soft, and smoother–in one night. There was no redness or irritation; if anything, my skin was more even.
Within about a week, I noticed wrinkles softening (not disappearing yet, but looking fainter).

Something about this blend of ingredients really does lead to amazing results, especially in terms of smoothness, radiance, and fine lines. TotalBeauty.com named Bioelements Sleepwear
the number one facial firming product on the market, whereas so far I would call it one of my top anti-aging moisturizers ever.  With repeated use, I am starting to see some firming.  This is a winner, even for dry, inflammation-prone, sensitive skin!
