Resurface by Shani Darden Retinol Reform: Magic in a Bottle?

Initial Thoughts 2 Weeks into Testing

Retinol Reform is a product certain celebrities swear by, and it’s known for providing maximum anti-aging results–with a whopping 5% retinol–without triggering the irritation one might expect from a powerhouse product.  The based of Retinol Reform is quite moisturizing, with aloe as the third ingredient, along with skin-beneficial sodium PCA and Niacinamide. Ms. Darden’s formulation works gradually to limit irritation, contains lactic acid to better deliver the retinol and amplify wrinkle-reducing effects, and is said to be suitable for all skin types as well as mild enough for the delicate skin under the eyes.  I have found all of this true to form, and I can also say that I have been able to apply it without any stinging. Note:  I have reactive skin that reddens and dries out very easily, so my smooth adjustment to Retinol Reform is very notable.

To ease in and help my skin adjust, Ms. Darden suggested that I begin with application one night a week.  Following her recommendation, I have had no redness or inflammation, which is saying something given the potency of Retinol Reform.  So far I am impressed with the tolerability.  I will update with a more complete review, including the extent of anti-aging results, after a longer trial period.

Update 8 Weeks Later

I continue to be able to use Retinol Reform without redness, discomfort, or any of the usual “raw” feeling I usually get from retinol products.  My skin is noticeably smoother and also less dull.  What is perhaps even more remarkable than the striking improvements is that Retinol Reform is more tolerable for me than most weaker, less effective retinol products I have tried.  Although I still recommend starting up gradually, this is a very well-formulated product that delivers smoothing results without any of the side effects I had come to expect.  A great choice for people who want the benefits of a hefty dose of retinol in a smart formulation that makes it surprisingly tolerable for sensitive types.
